Dupree
Dupree is indeed a great place to hang your hat and there are several weekends
each year that have
extraordinary activities for your fun and entertainment. Dupree is located
100 miles east of the Black Hills and is very easy to find. Three exits off
Highway 212 will take you down “Rodeo Drive” or along the “Ageless
Iron Loop” or you can just turn at the tipi at the “Main Street
Exit” and ask anyone for directions to the activity you are looking
for.
Isabel
Founded in 1911, Isabel is located 60 miles from the Missouri River in northwestern
South Dakota. The helpful business people, caring teachers, and friendly citizens
continue to hold strong to the morals and values cherished by the homesteaders
that established the community more than 90 years ago. If you’re looking
for great hunting, outstanding wild life and a place to relax this is the
place for you. Every year Isabel has a Celebration that is held the first
weekend in August.
Timber Lake
At Timber Lake, we’re small enough to know you but we’ve got things
to show you!
Timber Lake (pop. 434) was founded in 1910
when the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation was opened to homesteading. Since
then, a strong community spirit and “can do” attitude have helped
the community survive and prosper. Livestock and grain provide the base for
the local economy, which also includes small manufacturing, recreation and
home-based businesses. Timber Lake is the county seat of Dewey County and
a center for retail trade and government services. And — it’s
located in the heart of some of the best hunting and fishing country you’ll
ever find.
"South Dakota is a great state because of its values, not because of dependence on government."
Laura Ingraham
